The Concept of the Bent River Brewing Company was conceived by Tim Koster of Koski's Home Brew Fixens. As a staunch defender of quality brewing, Koster was able to gather enough resounding support for his vision, and in 1997 Bent River Brewing Company opened its doors. Contrary to its name, Bent River was not able to brew beer when it first opened. Investors and regular patrons held their breath for over two years waiting for their dream to come true. After overcoming incredible adversity, the beautifully polished copper kettles of the Bohemian Brau Haus allowed the first keg of Pale Ale to flow through Bent River tappers in 1999. The struggling infant brewery hurdled one obstacle after another. Through the determination of up to thirty investors and the dedication of Tim Koster and the Bent River crew, the dream has become a reality. Now brewing 1500 barrels annually under the supervision of General Manager Tim Sieg and Head Brewer Steven Ratcliff, Bent River is well on its way to success. Customers and Investors sit side by side and enjoy the product of patience and longsuffering, swapping stories about the road to brewing perfection. Look for Bent River at the major beer festivals throughout the midwest.
